# Mark a post as published

> joli.studio never publishes for you. Once the post is live, tell the app — that single gesture is what opens tracking.

Updated 2026-09-26

joli.studio prepares your posts, hands them to you, and stops there: putting them online is something you do by hand, on the platform. When it’s done, tell the app. That gesture is not paperwork — it creates the publication, moves the post to the **Published** status, and starts the readings at D+1, D+7 and D+30.

## Where to say it

The gesture is called **It’s live!**, and it sits at the end of the **Publish** window (see [publish a post](/en/guide/publish-a-post/)). There are several ways to get there:

1. **By publishing with the window**

After the files and the texts, the last step, **Live**, waits for the post to be out: paste its link and click **It’s live!**.

2. **From the Publish menu**

Already live, published without the window? The arrow next to the **Publish** button opens a menu: **Mark as published** (“Already live: paste the link”) opens the window straight at its last step. Inside the window, **Already published? Mark as published**, at the bottom, gets you there too.

3. **From the status menu**

At the top of the editor, the status pill opens the **Status** menu. Choose **Published**: the same window opens at its last step, once your latest edits are saved.

4. **From your phone**

On the page opened by the QR code, **Is it live?** opens a sheet: paste the link if you have it, then **It’s live!**. The window on your computer knows right away.

In the calendar, a slot’s panel keeps its **Mark as published** button, which opens a small window: platform, date and link.

A post has five statuses: **Idea**, **Draft**, **Ready**, **Scheduled** and **Published**. The first four are a single click; only the last one goes through the publish window, because it needs a few details.

## What the last step asks for

- **Platform** — the post’s own: the window always publishes on the post’s platform. For another one, see “One post, several platforms” below.
- **Date and time** — “Published now”, at the moment you click; “change” lets you give the real moment it went live, in the project’s time zone. A future date is refused: “The publication date can’t be in the future.”
- **Post link** *(optional)* — the public address of the post. The app warns you, without blocking, if the link doesn’t look like a post from that platform.

Confirm with **It’s live!**. The window celebrates — confetti, streak, posts this week, when the first numbers are due — and the post moves to **Published**.

> **Paste the link, even though it’s optional**
>
> The link is how a post is found again in a statistics export: it lets the import match a spreadsheet row to a joli.studio post on its own. Without it, matching falls back on date and platform, settled by the text, and you’ll sometimes have to fix it by hand.

## One post, several platforms

A published post stays open to further publications. In **Posts**, the **More actions** button (the three dots) on its card then offers **Publications…**, and the window is titled **Post publications**. It lists what is **Already published** — platform, date, and who marked it — and an **Add publication** button records the next one, on the platform of your choice.

Each publication has its own set of readings: a carousel that goes out on both Instagram and LinkedIn is tracked twice, separately.

## Undoing it

In that same window, the trash icon removes a publication. The message that follows says what happens to the post: if it’s still published elsewhere, nothing changes for it; otherwise it goes back to the **Ready** status.

> **Watch out**
>
> Removing a publication also deletes the metric readings attached to it. If you only got the date or the link wrong, remove the publication and add it again before entering anything.
