# Export numbered PNGs

> Files named in order, at the platform’s exact dimensions, ready to upload. Nothing to rename, nothing to crop.

Updated 2026-09-26

joli.studio does not publish for you: it hands you files. They still have to be the right size, in the right order, and named so you can find them again in six months. That is what the export is for. To publish, the simplest path is still the **Publish** button, which hands you these same files one step at a time (see [publish a post](/en/guide/publish-a-post/)); the export is there when you only want the files.

## Exporting

1. **Open the post in the slides editor**

Export lives in the toolbar, top right, in the menu of the **Publish** button. The shortcut `Ctrl+E` (or `⌘E` on a Mac) runs the recommended delivery for the post’s platform straight away, without opening the menu.

2. **Or open the menu**

The chevron next to **Publish** drops the menu open. At the top, the post’s platform: “Publish on Instagram”; further down, the **Export** section.

3. **Choose “Lossless PNG images”**

They sit under **Other formats**. Every slide becomes a PNG, downloaded separately, in order.

## What the menu offers

- **Publish step by step**, which opens the publish window, and **Mark as published**, when the post is already live.
- In the **Export** section, **ZIP Instagram** or **PDF LinkedIn** — the recommended delivery, the one behind the shortcut, with its summary: “Numbered JPEGs, caption, alt text and instructions” or “PDF document, one page per slide”. For a LinkedIn carousel, the archive sits right below: **PDF, caption and instructions (.zip)**.
- **Other formats**, a submenu:
  - **JPEG images, one per slide** — the same images, as JPEG, without an archive;
  - **Lossless PNG images** — PNG, when you want maximum quality or a perfectly clean flat background;
  - **PDF (one page per slide)** — offered as soon as the post has more than one slide and the platform doesn’t already deliver a PDF.
- Finally, the **Copy** section: **The caption and hashtags**, **The hashtags**, **The alt texts**.

## The numbering

Every file carries **its rank on two digits**, then the post title cut short: `01-3-mistakes-that-ruin-a-baguette.jpg`, `02-…`, `03-…` Sorted by name, a folder is therefore sorted in slide order.

The project, the date, the platform and the format are **not** repeated on every image: they sit on the delivery itself and in the archive’s `manifest.json`. Repeating them produced sixty-character names where only the last two digits told the slides apart.

> **PNG or JPEG?**
>
> JPEG comes out at quality 0.9: lighter, indistinguishable on a photograph. PNG is lossless: heavier, but cleaner on flat colors, gradients and fine text. When in doubt, the platform’s recommended delivery already makes the right call.

## Separate files or an archive

The **PNG** and **JPEG** exports download files one by one. The **ZIP** archive holds everything needed to publish: the numbered images, `caption.txt` (the caption and its hashtags), `alt-text.txt` when the post has alt text (one line per image, with its file name), a `README.txt` that reminds you in three lines how to publish on that particular platform, a `manifest.json` and an `AGENTS.md`.

## Handing publishing over to an agent

joli.studio doesn’t publish for you, but the archive is written so that an agent can — an assistant that takes over your browser, for instance. Give it the ZIP: `AGENTS.md` tells it what to do and in which order, and `manifest.json` gives it everything it has to enter.

- **The account**: the platform handle, taken from your brand. If the browser is logged in to another account, the agent stops.
- **The time**: the post’s planned date, in the project’s time zone. If it is still ahead, the agent schedules the post when the platform allows it, or asks you.
- **The steps**: where to start, then the platform’s own steps — crop to keep, alt text, LinkedIn document title, Pin title and description.
- **The stops**: a draft, a blocking review point, an AI-written testimonial not yet checked or an image that is too heavy, and the agent doesn’t publish; it tells you why.
- **The way back**: once the post is live, the agent returns to the post in joli.studio, picks **Mark as published** from the **Publish** menu and pastes the link. Tracking starts.

> **It asks you before publishing**
>
> Before the last click, the agent shows you a summary — the account, the images, the first line, the time — and waits for your go-ahead, unless you told it in advance to publish without asking.

## The dimensions

They come from the aspect ratio chosen for the post, not from the export: 1080 × 1350 at 4:5, 1080 × 1080 at 1:1, 1080 × 1920 at 9:16, 1920 × 1080 at 16:9, 1000 × 1500 at 2:3 for Pinterest.

> **A weight warning, not a block**
>
> If an image is heavier than the platform accepts — 8 MB on Instagram and Threads, 5 MB on LinkedIn and X, 4 MB on Facebook, 20 MB on TikTok and Pinterest — the app tells you after the export: “Instagram may reject or recompress them.” The file is there all the same; only an agent, warned by the archive, will refuse to publish it.

## Text posts and animations

A text post, a thread or a poll is copied: its editor has the same **Publish** button, whose menu offers **Copy text**, **Copy thread** or **Copy poll** (`⇧⌘C`), with a post-by-post copy for threads. The same menu offers **Export to publish (.zip)**: one file per post, the post’s images, the poll in `manifest.json`, and the same instructions. Once rendered, an animation downloads as an MP4 (**Export the MP4**, `⌘E`, in the same menu) or as a **ZIP to publish**, with its caption.
