# Check the caption and hashtags

> Two counters under the field, a Checks panel beside it, and fixes that apply in one click — or all at once.

Updated 2026-09-26

A fine slide falls flat under a caption cut off at 125 characters, or drowned in twelve hashtags of which the platform will keep five. joli.studio knows each platform’s limits and shows them to you **while** you write, not after the rejection.

## Where the caption is written

In the right-hand panel of the slides editor, the **Caption** section. A **Text** field — capped at the platform’s character limit — and, below it, the **Hashtags** area, where you type a word followed by a space, a comma or Enter.

The hashtags label repeats the platform’s advice: “Hashtags · 4 recommended” on Instagram, 3 on LinkedIn and Pinterest, 2 on Facebook, 1 on X and Threads, 4 on TikTok. Past the accepted maximum, the extra hashtags turn amber in the list.

## The two counters

As soon as the caption isn’t empty, two lines appear under the field, each with a green check or an amber triangle and its counter:

- **Hook visible before “more”** — the first line, compared with what the platform shows before folding: 125 characters on Instagram and Facebook, 210 on LinkedIn, 100 on TikTok, 50 on Pinterest, all of it on X and Threads.
- **Hashtags: Instagram keeps 5** — how many you put in, against the maximum: 5 on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, 3 on X, 1 on Threads, 10 on TikTok, 20 on Pinterest.

If the whole caption goes past the platform’s limit, a third line, in red, says so with both numbers: “Caption too long: 2,412 of 2,200 characters (Instagram).”

## The Checks panel

The **Checks** section, in the Post tab, holds the post’s full list: caption, hashtags, slides, images, alt text. When all is well, it reads **All clear**. Otherwise it counts by severity — “1 blocking · 3 to fix · 2 tips”.

Every line carries its remedy:

- a **mechanical fix**, applied in one click: “Keep the first 5” for too many hashtags, “Clean up” for hashtags that are duplicated, empty or badly written;
- or **Fix with the assistant**, which hands the instruction to the editor’s chat — with, like any AI action, its cost before and after, and an undo.

> **A recurring rule is fixed in one go**
>
> When the same rule hits several slides, it sits on **a single line**, with the numbers of the slides concerned — clickable, to go and look — and one **Fix all** button. Read once, fixed everywhere.

A check that doesn’t apply to you can be set aside: the **Dismiss this check** button files it “for this session”, and a discreet “2 dismissed · Restore” brings it back.

## Copying when it’s time to publish

Three routes:

- the **Publish** window, at its “The texts” step, hands you the caption, the hashtags and the alt texts one by one, in the order the platform asks for them (see [publish a post](/en/guide/publish-a-post/));
- in the **Caption** section, the copy icon takes the caption **and** its hashtags;
- in the **Publish** button’s menu, **Copy** section: **The caption and hashtags**, **The hashtags** alone, or **The alt texts**.

An export’s ZIP archive contains `caption.txt` in any case: the caption is already in there, ready to paste.
